We are a non-denominational Christian, non-profit organization whose mission is to serve the Rome community by providing quality healthcare services to people who have no access to basic healthcare.
We are a community-wide project that began as an outgrowth of the Community Kitchen volunteers at First United Methodist Church of Rome in 2003. A small group of Community Kitchen volunteers saw that food provisions were not enough in light of completely unaddressed health care needs of the uninsured. The Free Clinic began its operation in November 2003 with a volunteer professional staff of several doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and lay persons, seeing patients one night per month at the Salvation Army.
We then registered as a corporation with the State of Georgia in June 2006 and became a 501c3 non-profit organization in July 2007. The Floyd County Health Department provided space for the growth and expansion of our clinic and operations were moved in July 2007. Now, the Clinic has once again moved its operation and is currently located at 315 West 10th Street.
